3 Ways to Make the Most of Your College Career

  |     |   Life at Woodlands Village

Many of the residents at apartments in Flagstaff are college students, and this means that they have super busy, adventure packed lives. However, all the fun that comes along with being a college student may lead many people to let their goals slide a bit. Fortunately, there are three simple ways that college students can stay on track and make the most of their college career.

1. Work With Your Advisor

All college students are assigned an advisor in their major, but many people don't take advantage of the wealth of knowledge that advisor has. Make an appointment to discuss career and life goals with your advisor to make sure that you're doing everything you can to achieve those goals.

2. Schedule Your Studies

You have a schedule for appointments, a part time job, and vacations — so why not have a schedule for something even more important, your studies? Many college students will show up for every class on time without fail, but when it comes to studying outside the classroom, they may fall flat. Schedule a study period every day, for example your "study hall" could last from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This allows you to get all your work done, and you won't forget anything important for your classes.

3. Work on an Internship

While internships are often unpaid, they are one of the best possible ways to determine whether your field of study in college is the right choice. Try to take on an internship job in your junior or even sophomore year, during the time that you are taking major-specific classes. This gives you experience in your field and helps you really learn what your future career will be like.
