FlowersSpring is getting closer!  To help all of our community members get ready to take advantage of this beautiful season, we’ve compiled this list of five great things to do around Flagstaff this spring.  We’re sure that everyone can find something on the list that they won’t want to miss.

See Some Unique Art

The 15th Annual Recycled Art Exhibition will be on display at the Arts Connection in Flagstaff Mall. Take in the show from April 1st to 30th, with a special opening reception taking place from 6-8 P.M. on April 1st.

Hear Beautiful Music

The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will present their Masterworks V concert at the Ardrey Auditorium on the Northern Arizona University Campus on March 10, featuring works by Saint-Saens and Shostakovich.

Look at the Stars

The Lowell Observatory will offer free admission and family activities as part of their Lights Out Flagstaff Celebration on March 24-25, starting with a kickoff celebration at Heritage Square from 7-9 P.M.

Experience Art & Culture

Flagstaff’s Museum of Northern Arizona will host the 27th annual Zuni Festival of Arts and Culture.  Take in dance, music, documentaries, lectures, and art by more than 50 Zuni artists on May 27-28th from 9 A.M. – 5 P.M.

Eat Fantastic Food for a Good Cause

The Third Annual Feast for Flagstaff will take place on May 6th at  Fort Tuthill County Park, with live music, cocktails and local cuisine.  All ticket proceeds will benefit the Flagstaff Shelter Services and help them provide needed support to homeless individuals.

There are so many more amazing events in Flagstaff all year round, and we hope our residents take the time to enjoy everything the city has to offer.  If you’re looking for a new place to call home in our area, give our office a call at (928) 774-6968 to find out what Flagstaff apartments we have available.  We love welcoming newcomers to our community!

As a resident of the Woodlands Village apartments in Flagstaff prepare yourself for the fun of fall. There is so much going on this season that you want to take it all in. However, time is of the essence, so at least hit up these six must-do fall events.

Take a Hike

There are several hiking trails in Flagstaff that offer fantastic fall views. Consider a hike in Wilson Meadow, Bismarck Lake or the Aspen Nature Loop.

Ales on Rails

Every Thursday through Sunday in the month of October enjoy a German style beer garden at Ales on Rails. You’ll take a train ride through Verde Canyon for a four-hour tour.

Community Farmers Market

The community farmers market is located in the Flagstaff City Hall parking lot. It’s your last month to enjoy fresh fruits, veggies and homemade goods. Stop by every Sunday through October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to stock your kitchen with harvested treats.

Pumpkin Walk

At the Arboretum of Flagstaff, you can kick up your heels as you breathe in the fresh fall air during the Pumpkin Walk. This year’s event will be held on October 22 at 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Make sure to stick around for the lighting of the jack-o-lanterns at dusk.

Pumpkin Patch Train

Throughout the month of October, the Grand Canyon Railway Pumpkin Patch Train will take off each weekend. Bring the kids so they can pick their own pumpkin out of a secret pumpkin patch, which is your final destination.

Fall Festival of Choirs

Each Sunday in October, the NAU choirs will sing their hearts out starting at 3 p.m. at the Ardery Auditorium. Hear every group from the Men's Chorale to the Harold M. Harter Memorial Handbell Choir.

If you are interested in becoming a resident of apartments in Flagstaff we are here to help. Give us a call at Woodlands Village to schedule a tour of your new home.

Fall in Love with Fall-Flavored Foods

Our theme for October is Fall Into Autumn! We’ll be bringing you everything from tasty treats for the season to décor ideas that will “leaf” you inspired to deck out your home in the colors of the season! We’re lucky to be in a four-season town, so we’re excited to “fall” in love with Autumn with you!

So … here’s the thing. It’s officially Fall, and that means pumpkin spice. We swear, these days the pumpkin spice invasion feels like a zombie apocalypse: from M&Ms and Oreos to hamburgers and kitty litter (no, we’re not kidding), it seems like the pumpkin spice trend is taking over America. Well we’ve had enough. Not to completely dismiss this favorite flavor for fall … We snag a pumpkin spice latte or two before the season ends. But there are SO many other fantastic fall flavors to try! Don’t believe us? Well here are FIVE!

Chai

Pumpkin spice is basically the new chai. Seriously, don’t you remember a few years ago when you could buy just about ANYTHING with chai flavoring? It’s time to take it old school and reinvest in this former fall fav! But don’t just cop out with a chai latte. Because it’s also time to kick the chai-craze up a notch. We’re talking chai chocolate, y’all: Dagoba Organic Chocolate offers a chai chocolate bar that will seriously knock your socks off. We’re also talking Brown Butter Chai Spiced Snickerdoodles. Is the name a little long? Yes. Is it worth it? … Oh, yeah.

Salted Caramel

Caramel is like your cool cousin. Salted Caramel is like your fancy aunt. We just discovered Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Core ice cream, and we’d love to tell you how awesome it is but our mouths are still full. If you want something that’s healthy-but-still-decadent, try Fiber One’s Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bar. It’s new, and it’s delicious, and it’s only 150 calories, so take that, diet!

Pecan Pie

We know what you’re thinking … Pecan pie isn’t a flavor, it’s a food. Well, guess what? We don’t care. It’s still scrumptious, and it’s officially become one of our favorite Fall flavors. If you don’t believe us, then believe M&Ms. The Mars company has officially started rolling out Pecan Pie M&Ms, and we’re so happy about it we could cry. But we’re going to hold back our tears … otherwise we might miss this delectable Pecan Pie Ravioli recipe. The only problem we have with this tasty treat is it leaves us at a loss for what to have for dinner … maybe pumpkin pie?

Snickerdoodle

So snickerdoodle itself is also not technically a flavor … but it’s recently taken on a life of its own as a flavor, so we’re going there! Check out General Mills Chex Mix Muddy Buddies, and jazz them up as muddy buddy snowballs! Or try some Nestle Coffee-Mate’s snickerdoodle coffee creamer to perk up your morning. Braum’s Ice Cream also has a snickerdoodle flavored treat.

Sweet Potato

… No, we’re skipping the pumpkin pie. Because this. This must happen. Break out the sweet potato fries. (Hint: Why not just head down to Beaver Street Brewery or Brews & Cues for a delicious Bowl of Goodness?) A sweet potato latte sounds like a sweet and savory alternative to a pumpkin spice latte. And let’s not forget the classic sweet potato casserole. But we also said we’re skipping the pumpkin pie, and here’s why: Sweet potato pie. A southern staple, and a savory snack for fall! (PS: Do yourself a flavor-favor and check out the sweet potato grilled cheese sandwich recipe we shared back in April!)

What are your favorite Fall flavors?
