One of the best parts about living anywhere is that you don't have to rush out and explore everything in just a few days. You're bound to find your own favorite secret spots out on your own, but sometimes it helps to have a head start. If you're looking for a good way to spend a day, try these lesser-known spots to make you fall in love with Flagstaff a bit more.

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course

If you love a good obstacle course, then you should check out the ropes course at Flagstaff Extreme Adventure. This is a fun way to get outdoors and get your heart pumping as you swing, climb, and tunnel your way to the end.

B-24 Wreckage on Humphrey's Peak

Flagstaff has the tallest peak in the whole state, and it's definitely worth a visit just to see the snow atop the majestic mountain. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you may also be able to find the wreck of a military plane that crashed in the mountains in 1944. Because it crashed in such a remote area, the wreckage was never able to be cleared. Just be forewarned that it will definitely not be easy to find.

Walnut Canyon

Located about 7 miles from Flagstaff, you'll find Walnut Canyon which was once home to the Sinagua people about a thousand years ago. You'll find the ruins of their dwellings, which they built under a cliff. It is unclear why the Sinagua people left their homes around 1200 CE, but it's certainly a fun place to visit if you want to speculate.

Whether you have explored these places or not, they may give a better sense of what Flagstaff is all about. If you want to find out what Woodlands Village is all about, give us a call today. Our Flagstaff apartments were built with you in mind, so see how our amenities and floor plans stack up!

At Woodlands Village apartments in West Flagstaff, residents get so comfortable that an evening in is often considered to be better than an evening out. Even though there are lots of nearby amenities, such as outdoor grills and picnic areas, residents get a lot of enjoyment out of the cozy Woodlands Village apartments. Here are three popular board games for lazy night in.

1. Scrabble

Scrabble is the quintessential board game that anyone can play. Young or old, there is room at the board game table for every guest at your Woodlands Village apartment in West Flagstaff. The game is simple. Players pull seven tiles that have letters on them. They line them up on a private wooden docket and attempt to make words out of them that will fit onto the playing board. Scores are earned by the number and kind of letters used. A game can be played with two or more players.

2. Scythe

Scythe has been called the best board game of 2016. In it, players compete for territory on a hexagonal board. It’s a re-imagining of ancient Europe, and the game can be compared to the traditional game of Risk, but with far better graphics and a lot more complex. This is a board game that is more appropriate for adults due to its complicated play and strategy requirements.

3. Grand Austria Hotel

This new take on the old game of Clue is a masterful and strategic board game that will delight young and old. Up to four players can join in the fun of taking care of “guests” and serving up food and beverages. You have to play it to really appreciate the strategy involved, but it’s a game that will entertain for hours on end.

These lazy night board games are sure to amuse you and your guests. For more entertainment ideas in the Woodland Village apartments and beyond, contact us today!
