With the arrival of spring, everything gets a bit more colorful. Plants and flowers bloom in a kaleidoscope of colors, the sky seems to be more blue than usual, and even our plates brighten up a bit. Shades of green overwhelmingly replace the dark oranges and purples of fall and winter vegetables, and dishes are crisper and lighter, too.
Our Flagstaff apartments offer residents the opportunity to experiment in the kitchen with spring's brightly-colored veggies. Here are some fresh ways to incorporate three of the season's most popular vegetables into your spring meals.
Asparagus
Easy to find and delicious no matter how it's prepared, asparagus is versatile and incredibly good for you. It's low in calories but nutrient-dense, so you get a lot of bang for your nutritional buck. This recipe is super simple, but presents the asparagus in a less-than-typical way, giving it a modern twist.
Sugar snap peas
They may not be at the top of your snack foods list, but snap peas are light, tasty, and easy to prepare, making them a perfect go-to for when hunger strikes. As a bonus, sugar snap pea plants can be grown indoors. This fresh take on a salad is packed with fiber and takes less than five minutes to prepare, and the addition of mint in this recipe elevates an otherwise-average dish.
Green beans
Typically just served with butter, there's a lot more to green beans than meets the eye. They're an excellent source of nutrients and can be prepared (quickly!) in any number of ways. Try this sweet-and-sour version or even pickle them for a refreshing, healthy snack.
With so many tasty spring vegetables to choose from, it might be difficult deciding on how to cook them! At our apartments in Flagstaff, AZ, community members enjoy open floor plans and spacious kitchens. Give us a call or contact us today to see our available floor plans!

The key to a relaxing home is keeping clutter at bay, and it all starts with getting organized. Organizing your home might seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. We hope our Woodlands Village residents in Flagstaff, Arizona, enjoy these spring organizing tips!
4 Spring Organizing Tips
1. A Place for Everything
Before diving headlong into full-scale organizing mode, take the time to consider if all of the stuff you've accumulated has a place of its own. It’s not uncommon for people to purchase items that seem amazing at the time, only to discover they have no place to store them. So, the first step in any spring organization plan is to figure out what stays and what goes. Simply put, start your organizing process with a sensible reduction of stuff.
2. Banish Bathroom Bother
Couples and roommates who share bathrooms tend to double-up on too many items. That quickly turns otherwise spacious shelving, countertops, and other space into a worrisome haven for clutter. When you throw in things like electronics and grooming necessities, you may find yourself elbow-deep in a mess.
Consider which things you could both use, such as toothpaste, floss, shampoo, and other regular bathroom items. Think about, maybe, not having so many electronics in the bathroom and making an informed decision about what stays on countertops and what gets stowed away. Waking up and experiencing a clutter-free bathroom could set a better tone for your day.
3. Better Bedroom Basics
In the back of many people’s minds, bedroom clutter is excusable because guests don’t generally see the disorder. Bedrooms can become our personal clutter sanctuaries. But stumbling over laundry, shoes, and gear is anything but pleasant. This spring, take a stand by getting the items needed to restore order.
Make sure you have hampers and baskets to hold and move your laundry. Think about putting up hooks for hoodies, shirts and other items that are too often strewn about the floor. And, lastly, took a long hard look at your closets.
4. Cluttered Closet Calamities
No spring organizing plan would be complete without addressing the hidden source of disorganization. Closets are a terrific place to store seldom-used items, but they can easily become a dumping ground. After a good purge of never-used items, secure closet organizing gear such as easy-to-assemble shelves, shoe holders and plenty of hangers.

Spring is finally here! If you are hosting a get-together with family or friends in the coming months, you may be looking for easy, festive appetizers to serve. Here are a few easy spring appetizers you can serve at the next event you are hosting.
Easy Spring Appetizers to Serve at Your Next Party
Roll-Ups
In spring, you want items that are light and comforting. Roll-ups are simple to make, easy to customize, filling and light, all at the same time. Grab a tortilla and add your favorite ingredients, such as avocado, hummus, turkey, ham, cheese and/or tomatoes. Roll the tortilla up and slice it up. If needed, grab a toothpick to hold it all together. Mix and match different ingredients to create a yummy snack for your guests.
Mini Caprese Bites
Caprese is a popular and yummy appetizer. It is perfect for spring and summer, as it is light and refreshing. To create a twist on this classic appetizer, use baby tomatoes and tiny mozzarella cubes. Cut a baby tomato in half. Place the top on a toothpick, followed by a mozzarella cube, followed by the bottom of the tomato. Drizzle with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt to complete the appetizer.
Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are a springtime staple. You can stick to making these delicious treats in a traditional manner, or look online to find recipes that kick things up a notch. There are recipes that include throwing in peppers and jalapenos for a spicy kick to a traditional favorite, or recipes that include adding chicken or crab to up your protein intake.
